About the NSCFP |

The College of Family Physicians of Canada is a national
voluntary organization of family physicians that makes continuing medical
education of its members mandatory. The College strives to improve the health of Canadians by
promoting high standards of medical education and care in family practice, by
contributing to public understanding of healthful living, by supporting ready
access to family physician services, and by encouraging research and
disseminating knowledge about family medicine. GOALS
As the voice of
family medicine in Canada, The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
will:
Goal
#1: champion quality health care for all people in
Canada Goal #2: support its members in providing quality patient care
through education, research and the promotion of best practices Goal #3:
ensure that the role of the family physicians is well understood and widely valued The mandate of the NSCFP

To promote the highest quality of medical care for the people of Nova
Scotia.

To sustain and improve the professional
qualifications of members of the medical profession who are engaged in family practice in Nova
Scotia.

To promote high standards in family medicine in the
province.

To enlighten and direct public opinion in relation to family
medicine.

To relate to and collaborate with other medical and
health care organizations and governments on matters related to family
medicine.

To represent the College on the Board of the College of Family Physicians of
Canada.

To establish a register of members of the Corporation and to publish and revise the same from time to
time.

To conduct, direct, encourage, support or provide for research in matters relating to family
medicine.

To recognize outstanding contribution and service to family practice by members of the
College.

To publish and encourage publication of journals,
reports and treatises on matters relating to family medicine and allied
subjects.

To serve and further the interests of the College of Family Physicians of Canada in Nova
Scotia.

To undertake all such other lawful acts and endeavors as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the foregoing
objects.
