THE VALUE OF CFPC MEMBERSHIP
The College of Family Physicians of Canada is a
non-profit voluntary organization of family physicians that makes continuing
medical education (CME) mandatory for its members. The College of Family
Physicians of Canada is recognized worldwide. Our members have superior CME
training and maintain high standards of care in general practice
across Canada.
The College of Family Physicians of Canada
membership is available to all licensed medical practitioners in good standing.
Maintenance of membership requires participation in continuing medical education
(MAINPRO®), and full payment of the membership fee. Joining the CFPC
automatically includes both National and Provincial
Chapter membership.
Membership has steadily increased since the founding of
the College in 1954. This success can be attributed to a dedicated, active, and
involved membership. At present, approximately 60% of full time family
physicians in active practice in Canada are members of
the College.
The Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians
(NSCFP), A Chapter of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, is
the only Nova Scotia organization that exclusively represents family physicians.
The College advocates on behalf of family physicians and supports and
facilitates continuing medical education and primary
care research.
The provincial portion of your membership fee is
forwarded to the Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians. The cumulative total
of these membership fees provides the annual operating budget for the NSCFP to
sustain all services and activities on your behalf at a
provincial level.
We invite your participation in all of the NSCFP
activities. The NSCFP must work collectively to ensure that the voice of the
family physician is heard, and continue to develop the relationships that will
influence the policies and programs affecting family physicians to delivery
quality health care to
their patients.
