In Study Lies Our Strength
The College of Family Physicians of Canada is a national, not-for-profit medical association which supports family physicians in providing high quality health care for their patients. The CFPC was founded in 1954 to set standards of practice for the new and emerging discipline of family medicine and to oversee the establishment of family medicine residency programs in the medical universities across Canada. Over the years, the CFPC has remained close to these educational roots and its original mandate which includes undergraduate, post-graduate education and the continuing professional development of family physicians. The CFPC plays a key role in maintaining the reputation of excellence of family medicine training at the undergraduate and post graduate level in all of the Canadian medical universities. The CFPC's Maintenance of Proficiency (Mainpro®) program enables members to maintain their practice knowledge and skills in the face of an explosion of new clinical discoveries on an annual basis.
