Nominations Committee oversees:
- The nomination process for Regional Directors at annual regional meetings;
- The nomination process for Officers of the Corporation and/or Executive members of the Board;
- The nomination process for the Resident Director;
- The presentation of the slate of nominees for Directors for the upcoming year to the Board for their review and concurrence;
- The election, acclamation and ratification of Directors at an annual general meeting.
One of the responsibilities of the Nomination Committee is to review the attributes of individuals nominated by the Board and our members for the position of Member-at-Large for the Executive of the Board and to oversee the selection process. These guidelines were developed to assist the Committee to have a constructive discussion about the characteristics, skills and experience that is needed in the selected candidate and to use that information to review the potential candidates. This is a crucial decision since the chosen candidate will contribute to the Ontario College of Family Physicians in a major way over the course of seven years and, during their fifth year, will be the OCFP’s President.
Each year the Nominating Committee is charged with the responsibility for considering and constructing a slate of officers of the Ontario College, Members-at-Large of the Executive Committee and Regional Directors. The Committee presents the slate to the members at the Annual General Meeting. The Nominating Committee, on the advice of the Executive Committee, also nominates members to serve as Chairs of the various operational committees of the Board.
