The Board of Directors supports the work of the University Departments of Family Medicine by establishing a committee structure to maintain close supportive links between the OCFP and the departments of family medicine. The chairs of the Departments of Family Medicine and the Program & Undergraduate Directors meet with the Executive of the OCFP bi-annually to provide a liaison between the programs and the Board. Joint meetings with the Residents Committee is also facilitated by the OCFP so that issues can be identified and joint plans of actions developed.

University Departments of Family Medicine Committee will:
- Advise the Board regarding the developments in the aims, curriculum and operations of Family Medicine Residency Programs and medical schools in Ontario;
- Liaise with the Committee of Ontario Family Medicine Residents through joint committee meetings;
- Act as liaison between medical schools and the Board; and
Develop plans to further enhance linkages between the medical schools and the Ontario College.
