    Obesity prevention and treatment in primary care - are we there yet? Recent evidence points to promising and scalable methods of successfully treating obesity in a primary care setting. This presentation will detail the current understanding of the etiology of obesity, will review the evidence suggesting effective and safe treatment methods in a primary care setting, and demonstrate the details of current behavioural treatment methodologies.

    Learning Objectives:
    • Describe how overeating can result when ancient reward brain circuitry collides with the toxic-tasty food filled environment 
    • Review recent evidence suggesting that Primary Care Physicians can deliver safe and effective weight-loss interventions in a primary care setting. 
    • Describe the treatment methods of an evidence based obesity prevention tool and treatment.
    Workshop is limited to 16 participants.

  • 2012 Canadian Down Syndrome Conference in Toronto

    2012 Canadian Down Syndrome Conference 
    Toronto, May 18-20, 2012

    In addition to the main conference which focuses on families, we are hosting a medical preconference.  In partnership with Surrey Place Centre, Dr. Bill Sullivan will facilitate Pre-Conference: Health Promotion for People with Down Syndrome May 17th, 2012 from 8:00 am – 11:30 am at the Delta Chelsea Hotel. 

    he focus of the conference will be primary care for people with Down syndrome.

    This Mainpro accredited preconference will focus on primary care for people with Down syndrome and is hosted for clinicians and medical professionals only.
